U̲nderscore

Underscore is an independent magazine with thematic content attuned to a simple rhythm; quality of life. Conceived and designed by Hjgher, Underscore was derived from the desire to underline or highlight simple values that were important but neglected in everyday lives.

The team works closely with select multinational correspondents well-versed in the literature of the arts, culture, fashion, design and creative industries to ensure diversity in its editorial content, which is guided by its core values of honesty, integrity, quality and authenticity. Underscore was designed in a convenient size for portability, with clean and clear layouts and minimal advertising for an uninterrupted flow, high quality print on carefully selected paper stock for texture, weight and readability. Going back to the purest form of typography, the Underscore typeface was customised to represent the editorial and visual language.

As background music is also an “underscore”, a carefully selected soundtrack accompanies each issue to complete the entire experience, and is available on the website for download.
