Nestled within a picturesque 20-hectare landscape of greenery, the Goodwood Residence exudes a tranquil exclusivity where our clients, a young couple and parents to be, sought a contemporary sensibility to a family home that would complement the estate’s natural elegance and charm.

Upon entrance, the layout features a spacious living and dining area connected by a wooden trellis ceiling – promoting continuity and fostering a sense of connection between the two spaces. In the living room, low furniture is used for unobstructed sightlines to the outdoor greenery. The kitchen boasts a light-coloured wood-veneered island counter as a compelling focal point, complemented with muted green hidden cabinetry, the delicate blend of earthy hues serves as a subtle nod to the lush exterior landscape.

Warm and natural materials are used throughout the interior – timber, linen, honed marble, lime-based plaster, and washi paper; they work together to create an atmosphere of peaceful well-being. Embodying the apartment’s aesthetic and calming palette, the original marble flooring has been expertly restored to give a honed finish, adding a light and airy expression to the space. The dwelling is further adorned with a carefully curated collection of handmade Japanese and Scandinavian-inspired homeware items, imparting an understated elegance to the overall aesthetic.

The master bedroom adheres to the wood-centric theme, with concealed door panels unveiling a grand walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom, striking a balance between practicality and sophistication. Removing the bathtub allowed for a large walk-in wood cabinetry extending to an expanded wash area, transitioning from subtle to grandeur with a 2.4m custom quartzite sink paired with a sleek John Pawson faucet.

With an exploration of contextualization, we crafted the space to blur the lines with its exterior setting and designed it to accommodate the needs and personalities of those who reside there as a home that offers a serene sanctuary – a warm respite from the bustle of everyday life.
