National Gallery: Reframing Modernism

— A publication for an exhibition organised by National Gallery Singapore, in collaboration with Paris' Centre Pompidou

In conjunction with the launch of Reframing Modernism, an exhibition organised by National Gallery Singapore in collaboration with Paris’ Centre Pompidou, Hjgher was tasked to design an eponymous publication that featured a selection of the artworks on display.

The exhibition marked the Gallery’s first international collaboration, and showcased the work of iconic artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall and Vassily Kandinsky. By exploring the artwork from both Southeast Asia and Europe that emerged in the 20th century, the exhibition and accompanying book prompted thought and discussion about how artists of various backgrounds and experiences came to express themselves through similar methods.
