KēSa House is a long stay communal home away from home brand set along the bustling heart of old Chinatown.
In designing for the KēSa Lounge, layers and layers of wood was used as the main material of this space to give a warm and long forgotten feel of home and community. The lobby is divided into two defining yet organic zones, a communal table both for working and hotel reception, and dining cocktail bar and lounge, to enjoy their occasional coffee breaks or informal meetings. The idea was to do away to large reception areas and boldly move in the modern day reception of the urban and well travelled guests, anywhere in the lounge.
The wooden wall panel strips was largely inspired by the hotel rooms that are extended to the lobby space to provide consistency between both areas. Double layered timber strips create depth and act as a playful shelving that doubles up as storage and display. Varying shades of brown natural timber combined with brass accents, black and yellow speckled terrazzo counter top, randomly laid wall tiles and a pop of green to create a cozy and playful environment.
